Biography Presentations

May 5th, 2011

Danyah and I learned a lot of interesting facts when we had our biography presentations. We learned Johnny Appleseed was friends with all animals. Our favorite biography was of Michael Jackson. Danyah was Queen Rania, and I was Ryan. At first, we were nervous to go and talk in front of so many people, but when we were finished we were glad. We loved it, and we hope we can do the presentation again some day!

Connecticut Science Center

May 5th, 2011

When we went to the Connecticut Science Center we learned a lot. We had a paper with questions about rocks. We learned tons of information on rocks. Most of us watched a movie about climates and learned that the amount of carbon dioxide in the world is increasing. Then there was a machine where you can make craters. There was also a game where there was a ball and two circles. The ball moved away from the person who was relaxing and to the circle in front of the person who was not relaxing as well. The person who relaxed the most won. I would like to go there again!

St. Patrick’s Day

March 31st, 2011

On St. Patrick’s Day, a leprechaun came to our classroom! He wrote a message on the board. He made a hide and seek game. Each of us had to find one golden coin. He also messed up our classroom. He tipped over chairs and made footprints on the tables and on the floor. His name was Martin. He gave us pencils as a prize. They were really cool!

The Field Trip Visit

March 11th, 2011

Wednesday march 2nd, 2011.  Mr Ed (from the Mystic Aquarium) came to the 6-9 classroom.  He brought a bearded dragon.  His name was Chupa.  He told us all about reptiles.  He told us about their temperatures too.  The 6-9ers even got to play a game.  We also got to ped the bearded dragon.  Mr. Ed told us all about the bearded dragon (AKA Chupa).  He told us where some reptiles live.  He also told us about turtles.  At the end we washed our hands after petting Chupa.  It was the best field trip visit!

Snow Fun

February 14th, 2011

Outside at recess, kids are having a blast at the extreme sports and games! Like hockey, about a quarter of the kids are playing.  Sledding is a big hit too.  The wind in your face feels good while speeding down the hill.  Kids are making small forts, kids are making big forts, kids are making strong forts, and even some kids are making weak forts.  With so many ways to make forts fun, it is endless until the snow stops.  That is how the kids are having a blast at recess!

Storytelling Night

December 22nd, 2010

On the night of Storytelling, we were so excited! Everybody thought that they were going to do a great job, and we did do a great job. Some stories were funny and some were scary. We are so proud of everyone, and we know that next year will go just as well!

Community Soup Day

November 30th, 2010

On the Community Soup Day, we did a lot of fun projects.  There was a turkey you could color in by the numbers, a book about pilgrims that you had to answer a bunch of questions in, and there was a sheet where you had to figure out by solving math problems.  But the most fun part for most people was making the soup.  It was vegetable soup with potatoes, carrots, celery, green beans, and pasta.  We had it at lunch. It was really good. Some people went back for a second helping. It was a very fun day!

Fall Festival

November 11th, 2010

At the Fall Harvest Festival, we decorated the room with all sorts of fun decorations, including thankful wreaths, watercolor paintings of leaves, and leaf garland.  We also made delicious food.  We made pumpkin bread with raisins, and we made apple crisp.  All the kids told fall stories too! Brieanna was kind enough to give pencils to all of us with ghosts, jack-o-lanterns or bat erasers on them.  The Fall Harvest Festival was packed with excitement!
